A.P Special Category Status was promised by both the major political parties at centre, BJP and Congress.
Both the BJP and Congress voted in favour of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, and as a result Telangana state was a newly formed state.
While passing the A.P bifurcation bill in the parliament both BJP and Congress promised A.P Special Category Status for at least 10 to 15 years.
Many top leaders from both BJP and Congress spoke in favour of the Special Category Status for A.P and explained its necessity after bifurcation.
The Government in power now, should deliver the Special Category Status.
The benefits of giving Special Category Status to the A.P state after the bifurcation are mentioned below.
Around 90 percent of funds that is allocated to the special category states is given as grants, which need not be paid back, while only 10 percent as loans which have to be returned.
States with SCS can also enjoy concessions in excise and customs duties, income tax rates and corporate tax rates as determined by the government.
Our A.P state lost major part of revenue due to separation of Hyderabad and present situation is
Lack of top class universities and required number of engineering and medical colleges.
The Industrial sector is very less and most of the people are jobless and still prefer to migrate to others cities like Chennai, Bangalore and A.P telugu people continue to live in Hyderabad to earn their income.
The special package A.P is receiving is not sufficient to develop the state and generate the jobs.
The Agriculture sector, Real Estate sector and A.P.S. R.T.C, are effected badly after bifurcation.
The Infrastructure problems for the new capital of A.P
River, Krishna water sharing problems with the other states like Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.
